Hi, I am Dr. Sarah Lawson.

I serve families and individuals in-office in Oviedo and remotely across Florida, offering psychoeducational evaluations, advocacy services, and child and adolescent counseling.

My Approach to Psychology

As a nationally certified school psychologist in private practice, I offer a client-centered, collaborative approach to care, focusing on understanding behavior and providing clear, empowering answers. My work affirms individuals and families, helping them navigate differences in development in areas like learning, self-regulation, and everyday functioning. Whether you’re seeking evaluation, mental health support, or advocacy, I’m committed to offering compassionate, accessible care that fosters growth, healing, and clarity every step of the way.

Who is Lawson?

That would be me! Some of my graduate students dropped the “doctor” and called me “Lawson,” and I came to like it. You can read more about me on the About page, but for now I will hit the highlights. My days are full. I am a mom of three. I love being a parent and very much enjoy the work I do too! I have worked with children since I was a kid, and do not plan on ever stopping. I am a warm, approachable, passionate person who takes the scary and intimidating out of testing!

As an approachable practitioner, I strive to make the process comfortable and stress-free, especially for children. Just ask the kids who work with me! My goal is to provide you with a safe, supportive space to be yourself, while offering professional guidance and care.

  • This is an excellent question, as many words are becoming more common on social media and other platforms. For Dr. Lawson, neurodiversity-affirming approaches align well with her mindset and practice style. Before these words were appearing everywhere, Dr. Lawson practiced an approach that focused on the client, their strengths, and the way that the world needed to adapt to them, not the other way around. So, to Dr. Lawson, this approach means recognizing that late-diagnosed, high-masking, high-needs, and all the presentations in between, are indicative of personal needs and support. They do not signify a need to be changed, to be different, or to be taught how to fit in. By having a client-centered approach, Dr. Lawson works with folks to help them meet their goals, in a warm, and affirming way.

  • Dr. Lawson offers evaluations for autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities for toddlers, preschoolers, kids, teens, and adults. The evaluation process is modified based on the client’s needs. Educational advocacy and counseling services are also provided.

  • Dr. Lawson started working with neurodivergent folks about 20 years ago. She is also navigating how to parent as a neurodivergent person with neurodivergent kids. This work is deeply personal and important to her, and she advocates and cares for her clients like she would her own family members.

  • Reach out via text, call, or email. Dr. Lawson aims to respond quickly—usually within one business day. Please remember this is a solo practice and Dr. Lawson may be with clients, but will get back to you as soon as she is able.

  • This varies based on the needs of the client and whether services are covered by their insurance. Standard psychoeducational evaluations are $1,500.

  • In the words of her clients, Dr. Lawson is warm, approachable, funny, and easy to talk to. She prides herself on taking as much of the intimidation out of the testing process so folks feel comfortable. This is very vulnerable work, and Dr. Lawson recognizes that.
